The Heritage Centre, located in a former school, retraces local history. Of particular note are the minute-books of the Clonakilty Corporation, established in 1675; photographs of St Maloga, the extraordinary steam engine which worked the line up to Courtmacsherry; extensive archives relating to the War of Independence and to Michael Collins, born at Sam's Cross (5 km to the west).
