The houses of this picturesque village, today protected by the National Trust, are grouped together at the southern end of a sandy beach bordered by tall cliffs. The three rows of small white houses surrounding the square date from 1912. The slate-covered cottages were built in 1925, in memory of Lord Cushendun's Cornish wife, Maud.
