Dingle Peninsula
: Michelin's recommendations
Dingle Peninsula, in southwest Ireland, is the northernmost Kerry peninsula and that which protrudes the furthest into the Atlantic Ocean. Sheer cliffs, bare mountains and a fretwork of tiny stone-walled fields set the scene. Brandon Mountain (951m) on the north coast, the second highest in Ireland, is clothed in blanket bog. The region is home to a remarkable series of ancient stone monuments - ringforts, beehive huts and inscribed stones. It also remains a Gaelic-speaking area.
