Parke's Castle
Parke's Castle
: Michelin's recommendations
This castle was built in 1609 by captain Robert Parke, who became an MP in 1661. The castle was captured in 1647, surrendered in 1652 and quickly abandoned. Major restoration work was necessary to repair the slate roof as well as the frames and glass of the windows. The smaller outbuildings with thatched roofs were supported by the courtyard's bawn wall.
