Fly from Galway to Inishmore, the largest of the legendary Aran Islands and an outpost of Gaelic culture. Soak up the rugged beauty accentuated by miles of dry-stone walls, the thatched roofs of traditional cottages, and prehistoric forts.
After a three-hour train journey from Dublin to Galway, you'll head to Connemara Airport for your flight to Inishmore. Lunch at Kilronan, the island's main town, before heading to Dún Aengus. This 2,000-year old stone fortress perches on a cliff and extends over 11 acres (4.4 hectares). Enjoy views over the sea and Galway Bay before returning to Galway city for shopping and exploring until your return train.
