Bibendum
In the south-west corner of the nave the vaulted baptistry was probably the entrance to the church built by Comyn. The 13C floor tiles were transferred here from the south transept during restoration and used as a model to restore the rest of the ornamental tiling.Moving toward the chancel, where Handel's Messiah was performed for the first time, you will see several commemorative monuments recalling the sacrifice of Irish soldiers in the British army. Above the chancel hang the flags of the Order of Saint Patrick, an order founded in 1783 by King George III to honour the Irish nobility loyal to the Crown, and dissolved on Independence.
