St Stephen's Green : Michelin's recommendations

This green space, at one time common land, first enclosed in 1663, covers almost ten hectares. It took on its present appearance when the brewer Arthur Guiness transformed it into a public garden (1880) with an artificial lake and fountains. It is now adorned with statues of James Joyce, Yeats (bronze by Henry Moore 1967) and other celebrities and has a garden for the blind. The gateway in the north-west corner commemorates the victims of the Boer war.
