On the east bank of the river stand the ruins of a 13C Augustinian priory, founded by the McGraths, who also ordered the construction of a castle in the 12C or 13C. Today only the west wall remains. The walk, between the cemetery and the seashore, offers beautiful views of the bay and Helvick Head.
