Opened in 2007, a stone’s throw from its former site and dominating the mouth of the River Corrib, this museum traces everyday life in the area through the ages. It has a remarkable exhibition on the Claddagh district and its traditions, and another focused on the holidays “home” of emigrant Irish works settled in England. A 9m Galway Hooker enlivens the atrium. This vessel is named Martin Oliver after the last king of Claddagh who used it to ship his merchandise.
