Glencolumbkille : Michelin's recommendations

The village sits back from the sandy beaches guarded by a Martello tower. Long ago in this remote and austere valley Saint Columba built a hermitage with his own hands. On the 9th of June, his saint's day, pilgrims go on a 5km walk of penitence between midnight and three in the morning, stopping at the stations of the cross marked by cairns, menhirs, pagan standing stones and engraved stelae from early Christianisation.
