Father James McDyer (who died in 1987) had the idea of founding a co-operative and reconstructing a folk village of old, in order to obtain funds for his impoverished parish. Three cabins were joined to display domestic utensils, weaving looms, spinning frames, butter churns, peat spades and fishing gear, illustrating the way of life around 1720, 1820 and 1920.
