Irish National Stud
Irish National Stud
: Michelin's recommendations
Lord Wavertree, a rich Scottish brewer, decided to breed horses in Tully in 1900. In 1915, it became the British National Stud before it was handed over to the Irish Government in 1943. The stallion stables, with their lantern roofs, were built in the sixties. The stud farm houses the Irish Horse Museum. Its most outstanding exhibit is the skeleton of Arkle, a thoroughbred who won a record number of races.
