This is Ireland's only remaining Renaissance town house, built in 1594. It was used as a meeting place for political and religious leaders during the Kilkenny Confederation. Today it houses the local museum which exhibits, amongst other artefacts, letters written by Daniel O'Connell whilst he represented the town in Parliament from 1836-1837, an 18C penal cross and the Carlingford Screw, the only remains of the first Irish aeronautical patent (1856).
