This cathedral stands on a small hill which could have been the site of a church founded by Saint Canice. The best approach is by St Canice's Steps. It was built in the 13C in early English Gothic style and has been restored on several occasions. From the Western end of the nave one can best appreciate the interesting architecture of this cathedral, the second longest in Ireland. It contains several beautiful tombs.
