Killarney National Park covers 10 000ha, it includes three lakes - Lough Leane, Muckross Lake and Upper Lake, which are linked by the Long Range River - the foreshore and the mountain slopes south and west. The heart of the park is Muckross Estate, donated to the Irish State in 1932 in order to create the Bourn Vincent Memorial Park, to which have been added Knockreer, Ross Island and Innisfallen, formerly part of the Kenmare Estate.
