Kilmalkedar : Michelin's recommendations
The style of this roman church, probably built in the 12C, relic of a medieval religious complex and now in ruins, is reminiscent of the Cormac chapel at Cashel. Points of architectural interest to be admired include the tympanum on the east doorway and the blind arcading in the nave, whose walls are intact, and also the alphabet stone (with engraved Latin characters) and an Ogham stone. Nearby (370m S), is the chancellor's house, the former residence of the chancellor of the diocese of Ardfert.
