Kilmallock
: Michelin's recommendations
This small town in the Golden Vale on the banks of the River Loobagh, grew up around an abbey founded in the 7C by Saint Mocheallog. Several of its historic buildings still remain. It was once one of the most important cities in the county of Munster. It was conquered by Cromwell's troops around 1640 and most of the town walls were destroyed during the Williamite wars of 1690.
