This three storey castle was built between the 15C and early 16C. It was intended as the custom-house for the Earls of Desmond on a site which was near the port at the time. During the siege of Kinsale it was used as a warehouse for arms and supplies before reverting to use as a custom-house in 1641. Today it houses a Museum of Wine as a reminder of the period when Kinsale was a port.
