St Carthage's Cathedral (Anglican) : Michelin's recommendations

Most of the present-day monument dates from the early 17C, though two earlier religious buildings preceded it. Stone fragments from the west wall are the only remains of Great Lismore Church, first mentioned in 1173. A new cathedral was built in 1207 but was razed in 1579 during the Desmond uprising. In 1633 Sir Richard Boyle resolved to rebuild it. The fine tower and ribbed spire were added in 1826.
