Dunbrody
: Michelin's recommendations
Moored up at the quayside, the remarkable Dunbrody is a grandiose replica of a 54m-long three-masted ship weighing 458t. The original vessel was built in Quebec in 1845 by an Irish emigrant and naval architect for the merchants of New Ross. From 1845 to 1851, the merchantman served as a transport ship for refugees fleeing Ireland’s Great Famine. Visitors are shown around by “emigrants”, who give an insight into the hardships endured on a passage to New York in 1849.
