The Anglican church was built on the site of the nave and crossing of what was probably the largest parish church in medieval Ireland - part of an abbey founded by William le Marshal and his wife between 1207 and 1220. A large unkempt graveyard surrounds the abbey's imposing remains. The south transept was restored in the 15C but the tower collapsed in 1763.
