The Silent Valley Reservoir and dam were built between 1928 and 1933 to supply the region, and Belfast in particular, with water. Pleasant walks allow visitors to enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the place, which is dominated by Slieve Binnian (744m). An immense wall encloses the catchment area. To the north of the reservoir, a path leads to the Ben Crom Reservoir.
