Newcastle West : Michelin's recommendations

This town is known for its spring water. It takes its name from the 12C castle standing in the town square. The castle originally belonged to the Knights of the Temple but later passed to the Earls of Desmond. The banquet hall, with its oak minstrels' gallery and hooded fireplace, stands above a vaulted stone chamber lit by lancet windows. Among the castle's remains is the Great Hall.
