Few views are as romantic as that of the jagged ruins of Dunluce Castle standing on a lonely rocky outcrop 30m above the sea. Separated from the mainland by a vertiginous narrow passage, it was abandoned after the catastrophic collapse of its kitchens into the sea! After the drawbridge spanning the passage and the late-16C guardhouse, the oldest part (14C) of the fortress is made up of the two towers and the south wall. From the cobbled lower courtyard there is a superb view of the giant's Causeway.
