Ramelton
: Michelin's recommendations
This quite attractive village, located on a salmon river, was founded in the early 17C by William Stewart. The tree-lined Mall, along the south bank of the river, opens onto the Square; warehouses line the quay. The ruined 17C church at the top of the hill contains an interesting Perpendicular-style bay on the east side, and Norman sculptures from the Isle of Aughnish.
