This small village is built around a quite large rectangular square. The Anglican Cathedral of St-Fachtna, a 12C Norman church, restored in 1612, is noteworthy for the beauty of its delicately-carved main door. In 590 BC, Saint Fachtna, a bishop and abbot, founded a religious institution at Rosscarbery. It was here that Saint Kilian was educated before establishing himself as a missionary in Würzburg, in Germany..
