The road climbs through thick woodland over the Slievenamuck Ridge. The descent on the south side unveils a magnificent panorama. From the viewpoint (car park), visitors can admire the magnificent valley (18km long) which follows the course of the River Aherlow as it flows towards the River Suir. To the south rise the Galty Mountains, offering delightful hill walks and climbing among lakes and peaks.
