This cathedral, now in ruins, was dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It was built in the early 13C to replace Clonard Church (south west), and burned by the Irish at the end of the 12C. Its founder, Simon of Rochfort, the first Anglo-Norman bishop of Meath, was buried under the high altar. The large foundations reveal the size of the original cathedral, with a long nave, aisles and transept.
