Now a ruin, the “Yellow Steeple” from the late 14C gleams in the sun. It marks the site of an Augustine community, St. Mary's Abbey, founded by Saint Malachy of Armagh in the 12C near the spot where Saint Patrick landed in the 5C and converted Foitchern, the son of a local chieftan and later first bishop of Trim.
