The current building was designed by John Roberts (1714-1796) in 18C English Classical style. It was completed in 1779. Inside there is a model of the Viking church that stood on this site from 1050 until 1773, as well as several monuments from the medieval church - the tomb of James Rice, showing his decaying body one year after his death, and two monuments made by John Van Nost to the Fitzgeralds and to Susanna Mason.
