Clew Bay Heritage Centre : Michelin's recommendations

This small museum presents insight into the history of the area - the capture of the city in 1798 and pilgrimages to the summit of Croagh Patrick - and presents a number of local celebrities, such as John MacBride (1868-1916), born in Westport, who was executed in Kilmainham prison for his part in the Easter Rising, and William Joyce, the traitor, who lived near Ballinrobe in 1909-1921, and participated in radio broadcasts from Germany during the Second World War.
