Youghal Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Youghal (pronounced yawl) occupies a pleasant site on the west bank of the Blackwater Estuary. The town takes its name from the Gaelic for yew wood, a reference to the great forests that surrounded it in medieval times. Because it was strategically placed for the landing of English troops and equally, vulnerable to attack from France or Spain, Youghal became one of the Irish ports the English defended most hardily, hence its impressive town walls.
