Achill Island Interesting : Michelin's recommendations

Linked to the Currane peninsula by a bridge, Ireland’s largest island (14 660ha) is a lovely blend of landscapes including Trawmore Strand, Keem Strand and spectacular rock formations culminating in Slievemore (671m) and the Croaghaun (667m). Once poor and isolated, it depended on money sent back by emigrants. Today, tourism is its main source of income; surfing, sailing and sea fishing attract many summer visitors.
