This isolated, single storey cottage has a traditional stable door, a packed-earth floor and thatched roof. This is where the father of the 21st President of the United States, Chester Alan Arthur, lived before emigrating to Vermont in 1816. The extensive outbuildings contain collections of old agricultural implements and domestic utensils, plus an exhibition illustrating the departure from Ireland of Chester Alan Arthur's family and Irish immigration in the 19C.
