The ruins of a fortress, probably built by Walter de Burgo stand on an rocky outcrop, partially eroded but also partially protected by the Drimneen. The circular watchtower is all that remains of the wall. Most of the banquet room collapsed with the rock, leaving the east wall with its decorated windows. The keep rises through six storeys to Irish style crenellations with a machicolation on each side. There is a beautiful view over Lough Corrib from the top of this tower.
