The edges of these cliffs are so dangerous that the footpath is protected by railings. There is a sheer drop from these high, dark sandstone cliffs (182m; 8km long) into the Atlantic. The seabirds huddle on ledges or skim over the tops of the waves. The best view is offered by the O'Brien Tower, built in 1853 by Cornelius O'Brien and the Visitor Centre provides information on the local flora and fauna with details of the life and habitat of the birds.
