Bushmills' distillery, on the eastern side of the town, is easily recognisable by the unusual shape of the malt kiln roofs. The first license to distil whiskey was granted in 1608. The distillery has its own special water supply from St Columb's Rill and produces two blended whiskeys and one pure malt. A tour shows the principal stages of production and ends with a tasting at the Potstill Bar where a small museum has been set up in an old malt kiln.
