Down County Museum : Michelin's recommendations

When the new prison was built in 1803, the buildings of the old county prison were occupied by the South Down militia, then by the army until the mid-20C. The museum housed in this building shows the cells that have been preserved. The guardroom houses the St Patrick Heritage Centre. In the centre of the courtyard, the old governor's house now contains an exhibition devoted to the history of the county since 7000BC.
