The 252ha arboretum, which holds some 6 000 species of plants, was inaugurated in 1968, in memory of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Three sections present a collection of plants, forest trees and varieties of heather . The numerous tree and shrub species are primarily displayed in two circuits. The first comprises mainly conifers and the second broadleaf trees.
