Ruins are all that remain of the important 6C centre of learning closely connected with Armagh (the tower and treasures were burned in 1097). Admire the South Cross, erected by Muiredach in the 9C, which depicts the Crucifixion, the Last Judgement and the Adoration of the Magi. The carvings on the West Cross, 7m high, are rare: the Arrest of Christ, Soldiers at the Tomb and Christ Militans with Christ walking on the water. The North Cross depicts the Crucifixion on its west face.
