This fine country house was built on the banks of the River Blackwater in around 1824 and painstakingly decorated by the McGeough-Bonds. They paid particular attention to the heating and lighting, installing an acetylene generator in the courtyard. Little has changed since the early 20C. The most remarkable piece is an 1820 barrel organ, which is still in working order today. The gardens are planted with old roses and surrounded by little boxtree hedges and pruned yew trees.
