Alatri
: Michelin's recommendations
The town, founded in the 6C BC, has retained part of its Cyclopean ramparts and an acropolis. Laid out on a trapezoidal plan it is one of the best preserved examples of its kind in Italy. From the top, there is a superb view of the town and Frosinone valley. The small town is dotted with steep flights of steps and alleyways lined with Gothic buildings, including the 13C Palazzo Gottifredo and San Silvestro church, as well as the fine Santa Maria Maggiore church.
