: Michelin's recommendations
Ancient Antium was the Volscian town where Coriolanus took refuge after refusing to engage in a fratricidal struggle with Rome. The town was also the birthplace of Nero, in whose villa the statues of the Apollo Belvedere, Fanciulla of Anzio and Borghese Gladiator were found; these works of art are now on display in museums in the Vatican, Rome and Paris. Today, Anzio, together with Nettuno, is a pleasant seaside resort with an attractive marina and ferries to Ponza island.
