Arquà Petrarca
: Michelin's recommendations
This town near Padova has retained its medieval feel, as well as memories of the Italian poet Petrarch (1304-74), author of the Canzoniere, the first major lyric work written in Italian. In this poem the writer immortalised his love for Laura de Noves whom he met in Avignon. Unfortunately for the poet, his love remained unrequited and shortly afterwards the young woman died of the plague.
