Assolo : Michelin's recommendations

The streets of this attractive little town 14km east of Bassano del Grappa are lined with houses painted with frescoes. Dominated by its fortified castle, the town is closely associated with the English romantic poet Robert Browning and Eleonora Duse (1858-1924), the famous Italian tragic actress who interpreted the works of Gabriele D'Annunzio. Duse is buried in the Sant'Anna cemetery.
