Atri Travel guide
Atri : Michelin's recommendations
The ancient settlement of Hatria-Picena, founded by an Italic people and later on a Roman colony, has a beautiful hillside setting overlooking the Adriatic Sea. Some traces of the Roman town have survived, e.g. below the chancel of the cathedral and in Piazza Duomo. The historic city centre has retained its medieval alleyways, as well as many splendid Renaissance and Baroque buildings.
