This sizeable castle was built under Frederic and has undergone many subsequent modifications Charles V in particular, who alone may be credited with the exceptional spearhead shaped corner defences which contain two superposed hemispherical blockhouses. Inside there is an Art Gallery that is home to works by Giuseppe de Nittis (1846-1884) who worked in Paris.
