Dating from the Roman era, this statue symbolising the town, also known as the statue of Hercules is 4.5 metres in height. It is believed to be of the Byzantine emperor Valentinian I and, probably dating back to the 4C marks the passage from decadent Roman art to early Christian art, with the intensity of his expression lightening the rigidity of the character.
