The new Cathedral (17C) dwarfs the 11C Roman Cathedral nicknamed the Roundhouse because of its circular shape. Inside, there is a magnificent sarcophagus of pink marble surmounted by a recumbent statue of the Bishop and, in the chancel, canvases by Moretto and Romanino. Beside the new Cathedral is the Broletto, an austere Romanesque building with its Balcony of the Proclamations.
