This magnificent town museum is housed in the monastery founded in 753 and extended over the centuries to encompass the Lombard basilica of San Salvatore, Santa Maria Romanesque church in Solario (which are both part of the museum tour) and the Santa Giulia Renaissance church. A Unesco site, the museum highlights the history of the monastery, archaeological materials, as local works of art, ranging from prehistory to the 19C. In total 12 000 exhibits in 14 000m².

    Pros

    THE IS A UNESCO World Heritage site. You should spend a full day there and then go visit the Capitolium. The history of Brescia from pre history through 1700.
