This magnificent museum is housed in the monastery founded in 753 which, over the centuries, developed from the Lombard basilica of San Salvatore, the Romanesque church of Santa Maria, and the Romanesque church of Santa Giulia, which are also used for exhibitions. The museum highlights the history of the monastery, archaeological and architectural materials, as well as works of art from the town and area, ranging from prehistory to the 19C. In total 12 000 exhibits are on display here.
